This year I commit to being myself.
That’s a powerful statement for the first Monday in the new year. Did you repeat it? How are you feeling about it? When I said it, I felt a wild combination of giddy anxiousness and wary anticipation (as in let’s see how this unfolds – I’m excited but nervous that it will be too much out of my comfort zone or that it will blow up my life or best yet? It will be FABULOUS!! and unfold like a dream come true!).
It’s not that I’m not being myself all the time as it is. I think we all are in varying degrees. But in ‘being myself’ I am going to choose what’s right for me and not (as I usually try to do) think of how it will be perceived, discussed or judged. I have no great secrets so really this should be a breeze, but it will also be a turning point for many who have put me in a box and closed the lid – typecasting me as it were.
There’s an unfurling of the red carpet that goes before us all in this new year. Possibilities are endless. Opportunities abound. Hope is high and the bubbling effervescence of endless energetic efforts are alive and well within us. We are excited for the new year to begin and for all of our dreams and hopes to come to fruition! We can see it all as we get out our calendars and execute the timeless ritual of planning out the year ahead, putting the important dates on the calendar, month by month, and sometimes even making weekly, monthly, yearly goals for ourselves.
I’m right there with you – May 2026 be our best year yet!
