You Can Get There From Here

Apparently in the state of Maine they have a saying, “You Can’t Get There From Here” which is in response to being asked for directions. It’s a simple observation to the impossibility of traveling a direct route between certain places due to the location of the lakes and rural roads throughout the state. But this quote popped into my head because of its misinformation.

I have met people who are stuck where they are because they can’t imagine how their lives can Joyfully Change right from where they are. They believe in that mentality of “You can’t get there from here.” But even in Maine, you can get to wherever it is you wish to go even if the lakes or rural areas make the journey longer than anticipated.

That’s the same with life. We are here for the journey with many twists and turns, especially as we get older. Few of us can claim at a certain age (ahem) that we are where we had anticipated. Often I hear, “I never thought I’d be here at this age.” I have felt similarly myself.

But what I did was this: I chose to make a Joyful Change in my life because I knew that deep inside, the power is within me. It wasn’t overnight, but instead it took time, effort and some life lessons that have empowered me to live with gratitude, happiness, good health and even another stream of income. It is a daily effort for me that I have embraced because I know that this is my life to live and I only have one life! So if not now, then when?

When we don’t show up in our own lives, time passes and one day we look back and realize that time has continued to tick by while we’ve been stuck. Do you feel similarly? Because if you do, then you know that you have a choice.

Continue to allow life to pass you by or live your life authentically!
