If you start to think the problem is ‘out there,’ stop yourself. That thought is the problem.
Stephen Covey
We have all of the information we need inside of us, but we have been taught to look outside of ourselves for the answers. It is a change of mindset that is vital to our well being when we look at our lives from this angle.
We can only make a Joyful Change for ourselves. When we want a situation to change we first look to how we are dealing with the situation at hand and then choose the path to change within ourselves. Often I have heard when we see something in someone else that we don’t like, we should look inward to see if that is something similar that we don’t like within ourselves. Because what we notice about someone else who may be irking us, could be something that irks us about ourselves. Those who annoy us sometimes mirror what needs to change within ourselves. Can you see that in anyone that you know? What comes to mind when you think about this?
We are not the problem, but the solution. Looking deeply into ourselves holds the key to change, to joy and to healing. Free writing about situations, relationships and how we’re feeling helps us to see the situation from the observer point of view, thus allowing us a bigger picture of what feels right and wrong in our lives. It is not to blame anyone else nor ourselves. It is simply to take responsibility for how our lives are and to find the peace in our life purpose.
