What Are You Waiting For?

Time waits for no one. There, I wrote it. Out there, in the ethers, for all to see. I have asked (and been asked) the above many times in my life, for various reasons, in all different scenarios, but the one theme surrounding that question – What are you waiting for? – was to make a change.

Think about that for a moment. Even under the most mundane scenario like waiting for the bus, when someone asks, it’s because you’re waiting for a change of venue. LOL Am I the only one who finds that funny?

My heart-a-versary was two days ago and I’m still thinking about the whole thing. The necessity of it came as a shock since I never knew I was born with a deformed heart valve which I guess is pretty good considering all that I’ve endured over the past five decades. This last year of healing has been intense at times and has forced me to look at my life in ways I hadn’t before now, even as a breast cancer survivor. It’s made me realize that I don’t want to waste a moment! I want to reach as many of you as I can to help you to Shine Your HeartLight and to make a Joyful Change in your life! Because the present moment is here, ready for you to embrace it! Make this life your own!

I spent my whole life being the good girl. That was my role from the start and it’s who I am. I’m not having a midlife crisis and going AWOL here, but I no longer have anyone above me. I’m the matriarch now (and the patriarch too?) since my parents have passed and I’m not taking my position lightly. It’s mine and I’m owning it.

I don’t want to live in fear of what ‘they’ll’ think, nor pussyfoot around when I want to do something. There’s a whole world out there to explore and I’m building up the courage to go for it! Because let’s be serious here – What am I waiting for?

There’s no white knight to save me. I’ve been saving my own self for years. I have an ohana (family) who support me and love me unconditionally and most importantly, I love me and I support me. So time’s a’wasting…let’s get started!

We 50-somethings have something special that not a lot of generations have which is courage. We’ve had to roll with so many changes over the years, just with technology alone. So what makes us think that we can’t embrace change?
