Changing our behavior takes practice. Like any new learning experience, the more we practice, the better we become at whatever we’re choosing. For example, if we’re prone to negativity, then we need to increase our positivity which can feel overwhelming and challenging for some. But we can do it!
At any point in our lives, we can choose a Joyful Change – in attitude, in behavior, in routine, in relationships, etc. The choice is yours to make when you’re ready, or think you’re ready. It’s that impetus that begins the journey which is what I love! Normally we don’t change overnight as it takes time. Baby steps. But how wonderful to know that we can change and help ourselves at any time! Journaling can help us to sort out ideas, limiting beliefs and even patterns in our lives. From there we can take a step back to see the big picture in order to decide how we want to proceed. I love the crisp air of September and that invigorating feeling it gives me when the weather changes. There’s a renewed interest for me in changing things up, re-evaluating my situation and choosing Joyful Changes in behavior, in attitude and aligning my life as I feel is right for me.
In this world filled with chaos, it’s essential that we find our alignment, our centering, so that we can continue to move forward with less strife. When all the world feels uncertain, that feeling of inner guidance and strength helps us to root new behaviors so that change doesn’t feel as difficult. Being present is a key factor in this change.
Changing people’s attitudes takes time. We don’t suddenly become Positive Polly if for years we’ve felt more like Eeyore (from Winnie the Pooh). But we can take baby steps in order to modify our behaviors to change our attitudes! Changing behavior can be as simple as getting up a little earlier, making time to meditate, spending time outside, taking a walk, reading, writing, carving out a little more self-care time, or whatever it is that you find helpful. Choosing to do whatever behavior it is helps as does the inner knowing that you want and need to do this. Having a hand to hold to support you while you’re doing it has always helped me so I’d love to help you.
Happy September!
