Good morning my friends! I know you’re probably very busy doing all the preparations for the amazing Thanksgiving feast that’s coming today, but please, stop for a moment. I’m offering you this heartfelt beverage of peace, gratitude and understanding as well as a calming moment to just be present. No matter the chaos that may be surrounding your day, my friend, you’re in charge of you! Yes, you are – so don’t fight me on it. You’re the boss of you!
The pressure you feel to make everything perfect is real. It’s ingrained in some of us as this is what we’ve been trained to do as Moms, females, hostesses with the mostesses. But… today’s the day that you can change all of that – you can make a beautiful day even better if you’re not stressing, as that added layer of misplaced burdens is not yours to carry!
Lay it down. Go put your feet up and relax a moment. Grab your favorite beverage – coffee/tea/mimosa(?) and just close your eyes. Think about all that you’re grateful for and list them in your mind (or in your notes app or on a piece of paper). Count your blessings. Make a mental list of the positives in your life because today we’re giving thanks.
You’re here. You’re breathing. You’re mobile and preparing for the big day. Why don’t you thank yourself for always putting your heart and soul into making the day better for the rest? And dare I mention to thank whomever you believe in? Universe? God? Yourself?
I used to get so tied up in perfection that it hindered my enjoyment of the day. I felt the pressures of being a certain way in order to please those around me. I held tightly onto the role of people pleaser for it was all I knew how to be. But now I’ve escaped and I welcome the freedom that being just me offers! It’s a Joyful Change for sure!
It doesn’t mean that I am neglectful or not invested in doing my best to make a lovely day for my family and friends. The Joyful Change is in the mindshifting attitude that has come with recognizing that I am in charge of me. I have a say in how I feel and I am grateful for the journey. I’ve come a long way baby in the last decade and there’s more to come!
Put on some soothing tunes and enjoy this day.
Be grateful that you’re here and that we have this day to shine!
Happy and Healthy Blessed Thanksgiving to you and yours!
